At the age of nine, I won a prize in an Enid Blyton art competition, for my drawing of a pet shop (drawn in coloured ballpoint pens!) and was thrilled to receive a copy of Jane Eyre and a letter from Enid herself, who was my favourite author at the time. Inspired by this, I was constantly drawing and painting throughout my childhood, and progressed from painting by numbers sets to "proper" oil painting. Unfortunately, after gaining O and A levels in art the world of work, marriage and motherhood dominated my life and producing art was put on hold.

After running my own small business for several years I finally took the plunge and decided that the time was right to refocus on my first love of art. I soon discovered the versatility of coloured pencils and found myself using them more and more, although I also work in other media. Since then I have exhibited locally and further afield and have completed several commissions. I am a member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society, and have had pictures accepted into their 2009 and 2010 annual exhibitions.
